Objective:

Nike’s marketing department sought to engage community leaders and residents at the opening of their new Factory Store on the South Side of Chicago.

Solutions:

  • All event hospitality elements, from the entertainment to the menu options, were inspired and sourced from the South Side of Chicago.
  • Chicago’s Mayor Daley and other community leaders gathered to address the audience and media, as well as award 10 grants to local businesses.
  • The experience motivated excitement and pride in their community from guests.
  • As a result, the store did twice the expected business on opening day and Nike continues to open more community stores around the country.
